Washington EMC Celebrates Completion of Fiber Broadband Project

In April 2021, Washington EMC announced its partnership with Conexon Connect to design and build a fiber network to strategically serve two purposes: provide high-speed fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) internet to every EMC member and deliver smart-grid capabilities to improve our electric service reliability and efficiency.

 I am thrilled to share with you the exciting news that our fiber internet project has successfully reached its construction completion milestone – 100 percent of Washington EMC members now have access to reliable, affordable, best-in-class fiber internet. This monumental achievement is a testament to our commitment to enhancing the quality of life for each member and community served by our cooperative.

The result of the project’s completion is a state-of-the-art fiber network that spans our entire service area, providing lightning-fast speeds and unparalleled connectivity. This network has been meticulously designed to ensure that every household and business within our cooperative can harness the benefits of fiber internet. As we all now know, access to reliable high-speed internet is not merely a luxury, but a fundamental necessity – one which has now been met for our members.

Our desire to bring high-speed internet to our communities has been driven by the need to empower our members with technology that transforms and enhances the way we work, learn, and engage with the world. By now, you may be aware of the numerous ways fiber technology can revolutionize our daily lives, offering boundless opportunities for online learning, efficient remote work, convenient telemedicine, endless streaming and gaming options, as well as real-time face-to-face connections with loved ones.

We are proud of all that we have accomplished through this project.

We have built 2,300 miles of fiber-optic line.

We have connected nearly 5,000 customers.

12 fiber huts have been installed that light the fiber for our communities.
